With the successful launch of Yemanja Music Project/MIA on June 3rd, New York City was the next quest. The Yemanja Music Project-NYC, benefiting DREAMS CAN BE FOUNDATION, proved there is a divine power greater than us guiding the motions. Just weeks before the official date scheduled for the 4th celebration of The BFF, we still needed to find a suitable location. Miraculously, friends came from all directions to help welcome YMP to NYC. Beginning with restaurateur, Eric Petterson of the Coffee Shop. He offered the first gift; Luna Park restaurant a temple setting nestled in UNION SQUARE PARK. Then Photographer, Daniel Aubrey offered his gallery as our operations center. Joann Jimenez from ALMA, who offered a tremendous amount of ALMA (soul) to YMP/NYC; Bringing on board Manhattan Samba, Mama Santos, Tribal Raw, DJ True and many volunteers. Tribe members, Rene Costa Bevis, Lolo Silvera, Theresa Amandi, Eric Paredes and Nadia Harris flew up from Miami, as did Ico, Happy and Jennifer to be a positive force inthis continuous celebration of life. Adding to the force Rocco Ancarola, Jayma Cardoso, Lourdes Castillon, Del de Leon, Maria Rita Caso, Almir and Tracie Simon.
The full moon on (8-8-8)the eighth hour of the eighth day of the eighth month marked the opening of the Lions gate vortex and YMP/NYC, a very powerful time to pray for PEACE.
The YMP opened with a tribal chant blessing the evening and continued with Ajuli Kaur of The United Nations /speaking on behalf of DREAMS CAN BE FOUNDATION. Over one thousand guests dressed in white danced to the talented line up of Michou, Yerason, Agape/Nadia Harris, Manhattan Samba, Terry Doe, Tribal Raw, Happy Zebebe and Jennifer, Ico Manzanero, DJ Erick Paredes and DJ True.
I would like to thank our sponsors Cabana cachaca, Royal Lime, Royal Violet and The Brazilian Film Festival for all their support. But most importantly to all those that helped and can out to be apart of YMP/NYC benefiting Dreams Can Be Foundation!!!! You made YMP/NYC a SUCCESS!
Best regards,
Geo Darder Director YMP

History
Yemanjá Music Project© is an event that is inspired by the rich cultural traditions that occur on the beaches of Copacabana at the end of each year. Yemanjá, goddess of all oceans is honored with a procession, ritual drums and offerings, in hopes for a prosperous and healthy New Year. This event will be integrated with the Brazilian Film Festival in Miami, New York and Barcelona.
Cultural producer Geo Darder, in association with the City of Rio de Janeiro and the Mercadao de Maduriera, each year organizes a public event with a procession for Yemanjá, from the Mercadão to the beaches of Copacabana. Thousands of Brazilians take part in this popular religious celebration. Following the procession and offerings to the Rainha do Mar, the Yemanjá Music Festival, a cultural musical event begins. The Yemanjá Music Festival gathers a diverse crowd of local and international celebrities and people of all spiritual beliefs in a positive international media event. Yemanjá is recognized in many other countries as a unifying element in their religious traditions. From this concept emerges the Yemanjá Music Project©.
